Antique Japanese Calligraphy Scroll

A handpainted silk calligraphy scroll from the early 1900s (Meiji era).

The signature and seal of the artist is in the centre of the artwork.

The upper crosspiece known as hyoumoku is karaki wood.  The lower crosspiece also known as jiku is a also karaki wood.  The honshi or artwork is also in good condition.

Silk brocade strips also frame the artwork in the centre of the scroll.

Hand made washi is also used for the scroll backing and is traditionally used in all antique scrolls.

Dimensions: approximately 1.86 metres in length 44 cm width.  Length of roller 50 cm.

This item will be carefully rolled and packed for shipping in a tube. Shipping is via Australia Post and includes tracking and signature on delivery.
