A delightful woodblock from Hiroshige’s famous series “One Hundred Views of EDO”.  View 27 is titled “The Plum Orchard at Kamata” and is a beautiful depiction of an orchard by Hiroshige.  The Print bears the Seal and Signature of Hiroshige.

Originally published in 1857 by  Uoya Eikichi.  This print is a re-carved edition published in the early 20th Century. Sheet Dimensions  Approximately 41 cm  Height x  28 cm width

Utagawa Hiroshige  was also Andō Hiroshige  1797 to 1858.  Hiroshige was the last great master of the ukiyo-e.  He is also best known for his landscapes and some of his works are the  “One Hundred View of Edo”, “Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido” .  Hiroshige also created the series “Sixty-nine Stations of the Kiso Kaido” and he is also very well known for his depictions of birds and flowers and nature prints.
