Art Galleries and Lunch in Osaka

Oimatsu-Dori (translated as Old Pine Tree Street) in Osaka has around 80 antique shops and galleries.    We acquainted ourselves with most of the galleries in this area and stopped for lunch in a little cafe which turned out to be a real gem.

Its generally easy to find well priced, good food in Japan..  If you do get to Osaka and decide to check out this area we can recommend this place as a stopover for lunch.  The place was spotless and the food was great.  Most restaurants here tend to serve you a bowl of soba noodles with grated radish to accompany the rest of your meal.  We had grilled eggplant, magiri (tuna) and pork  fillet with rice and other little accompaniments along with japanese pickles washed down with Kirin Beer.  All up it cost us 2500JPY and the food was better than any hotel food and most other eateries we have been to.  We would thoroughly recommend you eating here as it is great value, good service and good food.  We took some photos of the couple who cook and run this little cafe.  It seats around 10 people and is typical of the great little japanese eateries in Japan.
