Antique Japanese Scroll Maple Tree And Bird

A beautifully executed Meiji era handpainted  silk scroll of maple tree with a bird.  The signature and seal of the artist is on the bottom right of the scroll.

Handpainted on silk and the upper crosspiece known as hyoumoku is karaki wood.  The lower crosspiece also known as jiku is a bone roller.  The mounting or heri is silk.  The honshi or artwork is also in good condition.

Silk brocade strips also known as ichimoji run across the top and bottom of the centre piece of the artwork.

Hand made washi is also used for the scroll backing and is traditionally used in all antique scrolls.

The scroll is in very good condition for its age with some foxing and toning.

Dimensions: approximately 1.7 metres in length 46 cm width.  Length of roller 50 cm.
