Antique Scroll Spring River Landscape By Shoka
Hand painted antique silk scroll of a spring river landscape in Japan. Beautifully detailed with an upper crosspiece known as a hyoumoku and a lower crosspiece known as a jiku in karaki wood.
Heavy silk brocade has been used for the mounting also known as ichimoji which run across the top and bottom of the centre piece of the artwork. The honshi or artwork is also in good condition.
Hand made washi is also used for the scroll backing as is traditionally used in many Japanese antique scrolls.
The scroll is in good condition for its age with some signs of wear foxing and toning.
The signature and seal of the artist Shoka are present on the lower right of artwork.
Dimensions: approximately 1.97 metres in length 54 cm width. Length of roller 60 cm.
