Early 1900s Japanese Tea Caddy Signed Minefusa 峯房
A beautiful, hand crafted traditional Natsume Tea Caddy from Wajima with both the lid and body finely hand carved with exacting precision from a single piece of solid Cherry Wood. The Tea Caddy is decorated featuring a Gold and red enamel Shippo (Seven Treasures) design set on a substantial, multi layered black Urushi Lacquer base. Included is a custom, quality hand crafted Cedar box also signed by Minefusa 峯房 including the artist’s seal.
This Natsume Tea Caddy will have taken the best part of a year for the craftsman to construct and to complete the many layers of Urushi Lacquer. It is in excellent condition for its age.
A traditional Tea Ceremony Caddy such as this is used to hold Usu-Cha or Matcha, a fine powdered Green Tea. The dimensions are 6.5 cm diameter and 6.8 cm high
