A very stunning set of four individually styled Lacquer bowls.  Estimated to be from the Meiji era 1890s with the seal of the maker on the base of each bowl.  Hand carved cherry or cedar wood covered in black lacquer with individual maki-e gold lacquer motifs of flowers on the lid of each bowl.  Two gold maki-e butterflies adorn the inside lid of each bowl.

Four Antique Makie Gold Lacquer Covered Bowls

A very stunning set of four individually styled black and gold maki-e lacquer bowls.  Estimated to be from 1890s and bearing the seal of the maker on the base of each bowl.  Hand carved from either cherry or cedar wood and covered in black lacquer and individual gold lacquer motifs of flowers on the lid of each bowl.  Two gold makie butterflies also adorn the inside lid of each bowl.

A stunning set of bowls in very good condition.
