Large Vintage Japanese Female Hina Doll
A 1960s Hina Doll beautifully dressed in handmade traditional Japanese costume. Her head and hands are made from eggshell based porcelain bisque. Her robes are made from kimono silks and her hair has been braided in a long plait. Great care and detail has gone into making the doll.
Approximate Height: 25 centimetres
Hina dolls originate back to an ancient Japanese custom called doll floating. Today some Shrines in Kyoto still float Hina dolls along the rivers to pray for the safety of children.
