A colourful and original woodblock print of an Imperial Army Parade set in Imperial Japan.   Estimated to be from the 1890s in EDO which is the modern day Tokyo.

The flag bears the standard hallmarks of the Imperial Japanese Army as well as the imperial standard of the Emperor of Japan (established 1869).  Featured on the flag is a gold 16 petal chrysanthemum symbolising the Royal household.
