A pair of very rare and beautifully detailed antique Kugikakushi crane decorative nail covers. Made during the Edo era from bronze and are in very good original condition.
Kugikakushi are decorative ornaments and are created to conceal nails on doors of temples as well as the homes of aristocratic families. The use of decorative nail covers originated during the 16th and 17th centuries.
