Antique Chabako Tea Ceremony Container
A beautifully detailed antique Chabako which is part of the Japanese Tea Ceremony. Used to hold utensils and Wagashi sweet biscuits and other treats.
The Chabako has been finished with black Urushi lacquer inside. The tray holds the tea caddy for storing Matcha, an Incense Container for storing incense and a vase for an Ikebana arrangement which is also customary for a Tea Ceremony.
The set comes complete with Cherry Wood Matcha Container, Vase and Incense Holder finished in Black Urushi Lacquer with gold embellishments.
Hand carved from Cherry Wood with black Urushi lacquer inside. Rare hand patterned Plum Urushi lacquer outside and bead edges in black Urushi with gold embellishments.
Approximate dimensions are weight 673 grams, 21.3 cm Width and 15 cm Depth and 14.3 cm Height.
