Four Imari Low Lipped Dishes
Impressive late Edo era set of four 1790s to 1840s Scochikubai Imari low lipped dishes. Finely hand painted in cobalt blue and white underglaze with detailed symbolic decoration. The centrepiece features pine, bamboo and plum blossom motifs symbolising three friends of winter resilience and perservence. Surrounding the centrepiece are intricate geometric patterns.
Condition is excellent for the age with the expected sprinkling of kiln firing and glazing marks of Imari porcelain from this period and which are confirmation of authenticity.
The approximate dimensions of each bowl are 15.25 cm diameter and 4.5 cm height. The total weight of four bowls is 1050 grams.
