1950s Japanese Cherrywood Tea Caddy

A  delightful hand crafted 1950s Japanese Cherrywood Tea Caddy.   The caddy has a steel interior as well as a brass sealing cover.  The outside is made from Cherrywood which is also known as Sakura bark.   Sakura bark develops a deeper hue and becomes more lustrous the more it is used.

In excellent condition.  Dimensions  Height 9.5cm  Diameter 8cm.

Sakura bark products were first crafted approximately 200 years ago by Samurai.  The craft has been passed down through generations and is still practised today.
