Urayasu by Toshi Yoshida

Urayasu by Toshi Yoshida depicts the traditional Japanese houses lining the canal with fishing boats moored for the evening.

First printed in 1951.  This is a later edition from the Yoshida studio.

Block-signed “Toshi Yoshida” and the English title “Urayasu” on the bottom margin.

The print is in excellent condition with no toning or foxing and it has never been mounted.

The approximate dimensions of the print are 40 cm height and 27 cm width.

The approximate dimensions of the sheet are 37 cm height and 24.5 cm width.

Toshi Yoshida  –  1911-1995     

Toshi Yoshida was the eldest son of Hiroshi Yoshida and travelled extensively all over the world and often with his father.  His trips took him to the USA and Canada, India, Africa as well as Australia and even to the Antarctica.  Yoshida’s body of work was primarily landscapes and animals which he depicted in a realistic style.

After the death of his father Hiroshi Yoshida he also experimented in abstract art for a while
eventually returning to creating realistic landscape prints.
