Woodblock Print of Kato’s most popular work. It depicts a traditional Kyoto alley with an umbrella left to dry outside a traditional house symbolising the onset of the rainy season.
In excellent condition. Unmounted and unframed. Hand printed on washi, traditional Japanese paper, with ink bleed through to the reverse.

ARTIST: TERUHIDE KATO
Born in 1936 Kato studied at Kyoto Art College and enjoyed a successful career as a Kimono Designer in the 1960s and 1970s.
Kato achieved his long held dream of being a woodblock print artist at the age of 50. He is best known for his alley series and other contemporary shin-hanga woodblock prints of his native town Kyoto.
