Antique Scroll Spring River Landscape By Shoka
Handpainted silk scroll of a spring river landscape in Japan. Beautifully detailed with an upper crosspiece also known as a hyoumoku and a lower crosspiece known as a jiku in karaki wood.
Silk brocade has been used for the mounting also known as ichimoji which run across the top and bottom of the centre piece of the artwork. The honshi or artwork is also in good condition.
Hand made washi is also used for the scroll backing and is traditionally used in all antique scrolls.
The scroll is in good condition for its age with some signs of wear and foxing and toning.
The signature and seal of the artist Shoka are present on the lower right of artwork.
Dimensions: approximately 1.97 metres in length 54 cm width. Length of roller 60 cm.
